Espresso offers hot drinks, cabinet food, wine, beer, and bubbles on Level 4 at the heart of the museum. The cafe is steps away from Treaty of Waitangi: Signs of a Nation, Mana Whenua, and Toi Art, making it an ideal spot to relax during a museum visit.

Experience Eat Your Art Out, a high tea inspired by the National Art Collection. This memorable treat was created by award-winning pastry chef Suraj Kolarveettil, who won the bronze medal at the 2025 New Zealand Pastry Chef of the Year competition. Each piece is crafted to spark conversation and delight the senses – from the playful Sweet William’s Dish to the refined Golden Ratio Scone.

Open 10am–4pm daily except Christmas Day. High tea is served 10.30am–2.30pm daily.
